Virtualdj local database v6 free3/6/2024 ![]() ![]() The database stores and contains the song info and virtual folder info in XML format. To be correct the virtual folders are originating by you creating them. So what I understand so far is: 1- the virtual folders are originating inside the database. 2: if everything stays the same in regards with folders naming and addressing structure plus you keep the same name drive you should just be able to copy the old database file in to the virtual dj folder-is this going to merge the databases or is going to replace the one that Vdj installs by default ? is there a separate database per each drive that merges in to the main database ? how do you do this if you want to work on a guest computer? (like on the club's computer, when you just plug your hdd in without affecting the original drive database, but you want to see your virtual folders - then when you done with your set and the database will revert to the original state editing xml files and renaming drives, backing up and merging databases are not easy to do in about 3 min that you have to get on going taking over from the previous dj is there a script or a plug in for a dynamic database or being able to load/add a temporary usb external hdd database as a second database for a guest user I wish for one of the Atomix gurus will read this and come with a user friendly sollution, maybe I should post it in to the feature wishlist forum.ĭJ Lex: Here are some answers. I use the Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Disc Management tool to rename all my Music Drives to M: This way I can clone my PC to the Lappy and back without having to worry about fussing with changing drive letters in my databases. Their tool can have unpredictable results. I would recommend going back and finding your problem instead of having VDJ's repair tool do it. VDJ will complain if you get something wrong. Still with me? If you open a new file you can edit the heck out of the database. The right side column will highlight the XML code for the song or VF you selected in the left column. tags marked Songs and tags marked Virtual Folders. Ok now backup the database file you want to work on. Download the free XML editor First Object. Hello, Virtual Folders are located in the databases. then simply rename the original database file and find and replace to change to new drive letter. of course if you want the drive to have a totallly different letter. and another database.and need to use the two thus the need to change drive letter. Problem may be that an existing database used a particular drive letter.and you want to make use of that database again.however the other computer already have that particular letter assigned to another drive. hence the need to do a backup and do a find and replace. no need to change database.however I do backups in case of an emergency. set my drive letters so that Each drive is detected in VDJ appropriately. Every time i plug my disc to my computer or the laptop it recognizes it as T: allways !!! So same database, no problems! This is what i use always. I have assign T for my HD to both computer and laptop and no problems since then. You can do this in the Computer Manager (Disc Manager/Assign HD letter. In order to have the same letter for an external HD on 2 or more computers, assign manualy a letter like T, S, U, X so that computer may have several choices to assign letters toother devices, but not the one you want. A computer assigns the first available letter to a USB HD.
